Role: This position is ideal for a highly technical individual that thrives on keeping up with the latest technologies. You are a natural leader that will both mentor and provide leadership to a highly technical global team of Application Specialists and Engineers as well as act as project manager for large bespoke customer installations for Aerospace, Automotive, Prefabricated Construction, and Wind customers.
This role will work directly with our end customers to design solutions for complex manufacturing and inspection problems that will drive the growth of our laser based augmented reality, operator guidance, and artificial intelligence inspection products.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to the Application’s team; using previous experiences to assist the team to solve problems and creating innovative solutions for customer applications.
Coordinate the workload of the Applications Team, ensuring they provide professional and timely technical support to the sales teams while resolving scheduling issues.
Manage the training of the applications team, ensuring they are experts in both Virtek’s products and industry trends and can present our value proposition effectively to customers.
Work with and manage external contractors to design and install large bespoke manufacturing solutions that include mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
Develop, estimate, manage, and monitor non-standard projects; ensuring customer success and that profitability targets are met.
Lead by example: Perform product demonstrations, attend site visits, attend tradeshows, participate in webinars, videos, and other product promotion activities.

University Degree/College Diploma in engineering or related discipline.
Previous experience managing a technical team of engineers or technicians.
Proven Project Management experience installing and commissioning bespoke automation or other assembly systems
5+ years customer facing experience, or equivalent.
Strong technical aptitude across electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines.
Extensive experience with CAD programs such as Solidworks.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal / written communication, and presentation skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Domestic and international travel as required (Up to 40%).
Previous experience with Machine Vision or Coordinate 3D Metrology is an asset.
