Job Summary
This role would support creating framework on systems engineering activities. The senior engineer role for systems engineer would be responsible to work closely with design engineers and project leaders in defining the functions and requirements of different components, support trade off decisions, analyse the design risk for different concepts and help define a balanced architecture for engine modules for GKN’s current and future offerings. They would be responsible to setup the capability of modelling systems and creating MBSE models on Aero engine components
Job Responsibilities
Develop, implement, check/approve technical solutions for System engineering models to ensure they are compliant with MBSE arcadia methodologies
Develop and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents
Develop complete V model of systems engineering functions, requirements, product risks and verifications on aero-engine components especially structures
Establish and implement a process for requirements management process.
Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the work package as required
Perform functional decomposition of system functions and develop requirements, perform three way mapping of requirements, functions and design solutions
Contribute to System Engineering method development. You will drive maturity of technologies in your specialist field, and undertake technical problem solving in your specialist field, including support with operational issues from time to time.
Job Qualifications
General:
Must possess a high level of engineering functional knowledge with considerable experience of working with Design Engineering typically applied to Jet engine component development.
Must have a very good understanding of Jet Engine operational architecture and processes.
Has deep understanding of Engines component functionalities.
Must possess a high level of expertise in System engineering to ensure models are compliant with MBSE arcadia methodologies.
Ability to identify and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods and standards
Good working knowledge on using Capella SMW tool is beneficial
Has good knowledge on Operational, System & Logical Architectures & various block diagrams.
Well versed with concept of DFMEA, DFM, Design for Cost and has prior experience of implementing
Essential:
Holds relevant technical qualifications (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) or a relevant level of experience to perform the engineering tasks.
8+ years (indicative) of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams (Design, Analysis).
Able to act under own initiative in relation to the relevant work package boundaries within defined functional procedures / governance.
Ability to describe and present technical information of a technical work package to a wide audience at equivalent levels within the engineering business.
Able to promote Lean Principles including leading a Continuous Improvement Project (“CIP”) within a work package.
Demonstrates ability to mentor & technical knowledge transfer as part of day to day activities.
Able to act within a work package of a function as a technical leader.
The ability to act as a functional/ technical/ integration representative in communications with customers, sub-tier suppliers (structure, systems) and suppliers (parts, materials, sub-assemblies) in a work package.
Demonstrates a commercial awareness to be able to analyse customer requirements.
Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills.
