Correctional Program Coordinator (Therapeutic Community Substance Use Counselor)

About Us:

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) provides statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by Ohioans. The Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services works with offenders in Ohio's prisons to instill an improved sense of responsibility and the ability to become law-abiding citizens.

Recovery Services-Therapeutic Community Correctional Program Coordinators use evidence-based treatment approaches in the treatment of offenders in prison who are in need of substance abuse recovery programming.

What You'll Do:

Duties of the Correctional Program Coordinator include:

At assigned correctional institution, provide alcohol and drug group counseling and other ancillary services to the participants on your caseload

Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge planning on participants (documented in electronic health record)

Monitor attendance and participation progress of the participants in the substance abuse programs

Provide continuing care planning

Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8\:00 am – 4\:00 pm (hours may vary)

Therapeutic Communities are open-ended programs with a counselor to client ratio of 1\:20

Monitor activities of volunteers and oversee support/fellowship meetings

Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction's training at the Corrections Training Academy located in Orient, OH. This training is approximately 4 weeks in length.
