Summary

Operates and repairs drilling equipment. Maintains drilling rigs, vehicles, and safety equipment associated with the safe and efficient operation of a rig site.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Build and maintain drilling fluid.

Transfer drilling fluids on location.

Repairs equipment

Under the direct supervision of the Driller, Derrick Hand may supervise other employees in specific tasks

The work of this position requires frequent contact with drilling personnel to give and exchange information

Work is normally performed out-of-doors, where exposure to atmospheric conditions of extreme heat or cold, fumes, and gases are frequent. Exposure to noise, vibration, high pressure, moving/mechanical parts, electrical shock, chemical and caustic materials is common in the normal performance of the duties associated with this position

The work of this position requires manual dexterity to operate drilling tools.

The work of this position involves the frequent movement of up to 100 lbs. to lift, push, pull or carry equipment.

Reaching, climbing and balancing is required to climb flights of stairs, vertical ladders up to 140 feet high and reach and handle equipment.

Vision and depth perception skills are required to supervise and monitor equipment and conditions on rig.

Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent required

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Ability to follow oral or written instructions to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision

Ability to interact with others in a team environment

Minimum training requirements: Health, Safety and Environment Orientation and Rig Specific Start Up Training. Well Control Certification, Driller Level, Drilling Only, and Horizontal and Extended Reach Drilling (HERDIT)

Three (3) to five (5) years prior experience in procedures associated with drilling a well.

Will be required to pass all pre-employment requirements including a physical demands and drug-screening test along with a thorough background and motor vehicle record check
