Summary of the Position:

Tishman Speyer is seeking to hire a Temporary Electrician to join our Engineering team, based at 1 Iron Street, Boston. The Electrician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing distribution and emergency power systems. They will Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring and switch distribution panels and outlet boxes as well as perform conduit installation, wiring, and equipment maintenance. Engineering is responsible for maintaining health and safety standards while creating a welcoming environment for our customers (tenants), visitors, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a high level of expertise in maintaining the facility's critical electrical equipment. (i.e. emergency generator, high and low voltage panel board networking systems).

Analyze project electrical needs and determine design.

Maintain hand and power tools in working order.

Carry out preventative maintenance program on a wide variety of complex electrical equipment.

Layout and install power circuits in operational sequence, and make all required electrical calculations, such as kilowatt draw and power circuit phase.

Maintain automatic controls, switchboard distribution centers, lighting circuits, and flood lights.

Troubleshoot, tear down, disassemble, rewire, adjust, repair, and replace electrical apparatus.

Make standard computation relation to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.

Respond to all types of electrical emergencies.

Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.

Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition. Comply with Tishman Speyer and OSHA Policies and Regulations.

Perform other duties as required.

Ensures assigned work tasks meet quality standards.

Promotes the development of quality improvements through the initiation of process improvements.

Skills & Qualifications:

High school or technical school diploma

Electrician license from local jurisdiction

Must be well versed in the electrical codes and theory

Minimum of five years working as an electrician

Knowledge of national and electrical codes

Ability to reach schematics, job instructions, and general correspondence

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel between floors and buildings including frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead indoors and outdoors with varying temperature ranges from 0 – 100+.

Ability to operate lift equipment at heights of up to 45 feet and work at heights with A-Frame and extension ladders from 5ft to 16ft using buddy system and following all OSHA guidelines and safety precautions.

Work in confined spaces, following all OSHA guidelines and safety precautions.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

Must be able to stand for an extended period, at a minimum of 8 hours.

Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, place objects less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.

Ability to understand and communicate in English, verbally and written.

Wear Personal Protective Equipment that may be required when performing Engineer tasks safely, such as but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, splash-resistant face shield, welding helmet, welders’ gloves, all-purpose work gloves, chemical-resistant gloves, disposable gloves, face mask for infectious disease control, nuisance dust mask, hearing protection, standard impact-resistant safety shoes with non-slip soles, and electrically-rated safety shoes.

Wear fall prevention/protection equipment when working at heights over 4 feet in areas without guardrails, or when performing other non-ladder work at elevations, or when working in permit-required confined spaces where retrieval equipment is required, including but not limited to body harness and lanyard in addition to other required Personal Protective Equipment.
