Reporting to the Estimator Manager, the Estimator will lead our projects in tendering processes, project planning, cost estimation, and client engagement within the industrial construction sector. They will demonstrate exceptional technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a proven track record in delivering successful projects.

This position in based out of Mississauga

What you’ll be working on

Lead the tendering process for industrial construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all submissions.

Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to determine project scope, requirements, and risks.

Accurately interpret and comprehend tender drawings and specifications for all projects up to ~$1 Billion.

Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs and formulate detailed cost estimates using industry-standard methodologies.

Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Evaluate potential scope changes, additional costs, and claims situations, providing accurate cost assessments and recommendations.

Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management, identifying and addressing potential risks and issues.

Present project proposals, cost estimates, and recommendations to internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Assist in the development and implementation of departmental standards, procedures, and best practices.

Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Understand and adhere to Bird’s safety management system, policies, procedures, and values

What we are looking for

Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial construction estimating and project management.

post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in a related field, and/or relevant combination of experience.

Strong understanding of industrial construction processes, materials, and methods.

Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Sage Estimating) and MS Office suite.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively - interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.

Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate and reliable results.

Willingness to travel to project sites and client offices as required.
