Data Center Technician
Key Role:
Handle a variety of tasks that are crucial for keeping our data centers and critical infrastructure running smoothly. Perform physical installations of network devices, servers, and other equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve layer 1 network and data center hardware issues. Support and maintain our critical infrastructure systems, like UPSs, CRAC units, and generators, ensuring everything runs efficiently through preventative maintenance and necessary upgrades. Participate in on-call rotations to respond to critical events when needed. Combine your technical knowledge and communication skills to collaborate with external groups to resolve any issues impacting our operations. Work on small projects independently and assist with the planning and execution of larger ones. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience as a Data Center Technician in an IT environment
Knowledge of network hardware, cabling standards, and infrastructure components
Knowledge of critical infrastructure systems, such as UPSs, CRAC units, or generators
Ability to troubleshoot and repair layer 1 network issues and data center hardware
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a data center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises
Ability to participate in on-call rotations and occasionally work nights or weekends
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
HS diploma or GED
Additional Qualifications:
3+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
2+ years of experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment
Ability to pay strict attention to detail
Possession of excellent problem-solving skills
Possession of excellent time management and organizational skills
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP), CompTIA A+, Security+, Server+, or similar certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $51,600.00 to $106,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
