The Human Resources team at IRI plays a critical role in cultivating a workplace where staff are engaged actively contributing to IRI’s mission to enhance democracy worldwide. As a Senior Engagement Specialist, you will have the opportunity to support Employee Engagement and Employee Relations at IRI as we continue to navigate an evolved workplace that focuses on engagement and staff productivity and development. With a responsive, problem-solving and solutions driven mindset, you will have the opportunity to use judgement, discernment and your unique skill set in shaping the engagement of our staff at IRI. You will be an operational executor with an ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively in support of staff concerns while balancing this delivery of strategic and thoughtful insight into how IRI successfully operates as a leader in supporting democracies throughout the globe.

This is a hybrid role based in Washington, DC. US Work Authorization required.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent experience in HR.

Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working in a comparable Human Resources or services related role.

Knowledge of state and federal laws including ADA, EEO, FMLA, Title VII, wage and hour laws, benefits; solid understanding of human resources policies and practices.

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and communicate with staff at all levels of an organization.

Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously with excellent organizational skills.

Strong team player.

Experience and competency in HRIS a must; proficient in MS Office Suite.

Great attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with HRIS programs. Preference for UltiPro experience.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

Operating with discretion and judgement, the individual will provide primary support and lead on employee relations issues as they arise throughout the Institute.

Individual will manage documentation, file retention and support employee relations case management within the HR team structure.

With an innovative mindset, the individual will provide insight and input into the creation of metrics and will provide analysis of current employe engagement/ employee relations areas to inform decisions and planning for changes and enhancements.

With the lens of a seasoned HR professional, individual will be responsible for providing guidance and support on employee engagement across the Institute including supporting employee survey’s, exit interviews, performance management processes, 360 processes, vendor management, etc.

With an eye towards employee experience, the individual will provide support policy creation and interpretation.

Will deliver strategic input to develop and manage a HR communications strategy/calendar, in conjunction with HR functional experts, and manage a calendar to support outreach on communications.

Through demonstration of effective verbal and written communication, the individual will provide management updates on performance and disciplinary issues through a variety of formats.

As an operational executor, individual will deliver sound guidance on a variety of policy interpretation and create and communicate updates to relevant policy issues

With a focus on service and employee experience, the individual will deliver timely support and counsel to staff on a variety of issues in an employee and solutions focused manner with a customer service orientation.

Will provide support to management development and training initiatives across the Institute.
