Facilities Services is responsible for stewardship of Simon Fraser University's lands and buildings on all three campuses; Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey to support the faculty, staff and students in pursuit of excellence in their individual and institutional, academic teaching, research and community objectives. Campus Planning & Development is one of three units within SFU's Facilities services, with the Major Projects division responsible for planning, management and delivery of capital construction projects including new buildings and renovation projects.

About the Role

Working collaboratively with the Facilities Campus Planning & Development team, this project management role will be primarily focused on the programming, design and construction process for assigned capital and major/minor renovation projects at all stages of the project life cycle.

The ideal candidate is proactive and accountable, possesses strong technical understanding of building construction and systems, and is well-versed in project management methodologies. They will have broad experience managing complex new builds, renovations and multi-system renewals within occupied buildings. This individual will excel in communication and problem-solving, capable of effectively collaborating with professional consultants, contractors and various stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture, and related professional designation (i.e., P.Eng, AIBC) and five years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Excellent multi-discipline knowledge of the principles of planning, design and construction of complex building types; specifically Mass Timber design and construction.

Excellent knowledge of estimating and cost control in construction.

Excellent knowledge of design and construction of structural, electrical and mechanical building systems.

Excellent knowledge of consultation and construction contracts.

5 years + experience in construction contract administration.
