The Application Engineer II is a position on the Sarah Cannon Data Integration team. The Sarah Cannon Data Integration team is responsible for analysis, design, development and support of ETL pipelines, reports and databases. The Application Engineer II will spend time developing, testing, and reviewing ETL pipelines and reports alongside other developers.

As an Application Engineer II you will work closely with all team members to create a modular, scalable solution that addresses current needs, but will also serve as a foundation for future success. This role requires 'self-starters' who are experienced in problem solving and capable of bringing clarity to complex situations. It requires contributing to strategic technical direction and system architecture approaches for individual projects and platform migrations. It also requires working closely with others, frequently in a matrixed environment, and with little supervision.

The Application Engineer II is a mid-level development position that focuses on the following items:

Collaborates with data source owners to determine the best method and requirement for integration/extraction to support the solution

Designs and develops technical solutions, including integrations with external systems both on premise/private cloud and the public cloud

Creates databases in both SQL and no-SQL technologies

Implements Azure data services solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake

Designs and develops PowerBI reports and provide insights to improve decision-making

Provides on-call assistance as needed

Investigates, determines and communicates root cause of ETL, report and database issues, working with end users and support staff at all levels of the organization

Participates in/Leads meetings as a member of IT

Helps define and document Sarah Cannon data integration/reporting development standards and procedures

Helps define data governance standards and policies for Azure Data Lake(s)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

5+ years of experience in a developer role

1+ year of Azure - must understand the basics

Demonstrated ability to establish and build strong relationships across a broad range of personality types

Excellent ability to communicate effectively with SCRI staff and information technology personnel verbally and in writing

Demonstrated strong customer orientation

Practice and adherence to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Experience with at least four of the following technologies:

Azure Data Factory

Azure Synapse Analytics

Azure Data Lake

SQL Server/Azure SQL Database and SQL Managed Instances

Microsoft PowerBI with PowerQuery and DAX

Azure Functions

Azure Logics Apps
