Position, Department: Career Development Coach, Student Success & Engagement

Type of Position: Full-time Hourly, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $22.65-$29.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Support the day-to-day operation of the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Career Development Center, create retention strategies, and make initial contact with prospective students, JCCC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers to advise on college major research, career exploration, job search, and career related information.

Required Qualifications:

Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.

Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Requires a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

Schedule appointments with students and alumni to provide comprehensive career coaching to help define career options, develop job search skills, and construct action plans.

Administer the proper career assessment tool based on the individual needs of the student, provide interpretation, and develop actionable career plans.

Create and facilitate various career presentations and workshops.

Assist students with the development of personalized resumes and review and critique when necessary.

Schedule and coach students through mock interview sessions.

Develop partnerships with local businesses and connect students to potential employment opportunities.

Track students from specific majors and industry areas and collect data on internships and first career destinations of graduating students to analyze and provide recommendations for program modifications for greater success.

Collaborate on events with other team members to offer students a robust experience.

Provide students with data regarding the current job market trends for a career choice.

Conduct research on new emerging career field trends and design new initiatives.
