Introduction

Are you looking for a leadership role within an Independent School. Know how to make learning fun while maintaining boundaries? Love contributing to a culture of inclusivity and a sense of belonging? Crave smaller class sizes, manageable hours and generous remuneration? If this is you and you are a primary or secondary school trained registered teacher passionate about reengaging students with learning we’d like to meet you.

Indie School provides students the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individualised learning and education plans, tailored to each student's own education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths and work to improve areas in which they lack confidence.

The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that our foundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect and accountability all have a significant role to play. In return for higher levels of self-responsibility, the students can enjoy some greater freedoms.

Our schools are located in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, and we work with students who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education for a variety of reasons. I Our aim is to reengage students with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills and focus on the next step in the learning journey for each student: be that a desire to return to mainstream, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway, or to get ready for the workforce.
