JOB TITLE: N.O. Line 5 Packaging Day Off Relief/Unassigned Bake Shop Helper

WORKDAY GRADE LEVEL: H003

BASE RATE PER HOUR: $22.45

SHIFT: 3rd

HOURS: Generally, starts as early as 10:45 PM until finish. Overtime and weekend work as needed. Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays. Good attendance and punctuality required.

JOB SUMMARY/JOB DUTIES:

Covers various positions on Line 5 Packaging for day off relief, vacations, absences, breaks and lunches. Positions covered include Bake Shop Helper, Slicer Feeder, Bagger Caser and Packaging Coordinator. Must follow 100% compliance to HACCP, CTS, Safety, GMPs, and SOPs and can work successfully with minimal supervision. May have earlier start time when needed. . Operator may be called upon to assist other Bake Shop Helper positions during operation and cover for vacations in any of these positions may be needed. Good communication skills. General cleaning/5S responsibilities of area assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Bake Shop Helper: Covers Bagger Operator, Caser Operator and Slicer Feeder for breaks and lunches. See specific job descriptions for each of these positions. Responsible for monitoring, recording, and maintaining product quality standards. Operator may be called upon to assist other Line 5 positions during operation, and cover for vacations in any of these positions as necessary.

Bagger Caser: Setup, operate and monitor proper bagging, enclosures and correct code on clip. Sets up slicer to achieve proper slicing specification. Sets up bagger, changes paddles, flites, stacker and guides. Cases product and monitors product for correct units in case, quality of product, and slice. Changes Marsh code for each product. Assists in racking off when necessary. May stand in one position for prolonged period.

Slicer Feeder: Feeds buns as necessary to achieve proper slicing specifications. Maintain and change blades on slicer. May rotate with bun caser and hoagie helper position. Must set up the various slicers to achieve proper slice specifications. Racks off when necessary. Cases product and monitors product for correct units in case, quality of product, and slice. Changes Marsh code for each product. Assists in racking off when necessary. Manual dexterity necessary to case in a quick and safe manner. May be called upon to assist other Line 5 positions during operation and other duties as requested.

Packaging Coordinator: Calculates amount of supplies needed and organizes through physical movement. Must understand codes, schedules and nature of supplies. Plans next production run in terms of physical set up of supplies including using a forklift or pallet jack to supply the line with bags, cases, boxes of tape and other packaging materials as needed. Setups and maintains autocaser, tape machine and coding equipment. Runs basket denester and breaks down baskets with lift. Accurately counts and stacks cases for relocation in distribution area. Records metal detector and check weigher data hourly, as well as gathering and recording metal thrift product. Relieves or fills in for any packaging utility as needed. Must drive a lift truck and pass licensing requirements. Position involves bending, squatting, reaching and standing. Requires fine hand manipulation to set codes, tags and code blocks. May be called upon to assist on the positions during operations and on NS days, may be scheduled on other lines to support the business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Decision Making Skills: Must have strong decision making and communication skills. They must have the ability to utilize/exercise good judgment, and they must ensure issues are quickly resolved and communicated with supervision. Fill out communication boards daily.

• Food Safety Awareness: Food safety awareness is critical in this position. This position will be held accountable to having a full understanding and adherence to the strictest compliance standards, in relation to HACCP, CTS, SOP, Safety, GMP, and JSA procedure and standards related to this position. Focused awareness and prevention of contamination/potential contamination, allergen control, and lot code traceability are key objectives in this role.

• Formula Control: Formula control is vital to ensuring compliance to label management of our products. Must abide to exact formula specifications and procedures, to ensure bread quality standards are maintained and label contents are aligned.

• Maintains work area to "5S" cleanliness, housekeeping and organizational standard.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Must possess a high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, hot/cold temperature extremes, high industrial noise levels, forklift traffic and wet environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to comply with all safety regulations, support plant safety initiatives, proper operating procedures and utilize prescribed safety equipment such as safety eyeglasses, safety shields, gloves, earplugs, respirators, and approved footwear.

Ability to deal with a changing work environment and high-pressure situations. Must be able to work in a team environment.

This position may require overtime as deemed necessary to support operations activities.

Employees' approved vacation subject to change when bidding to a new area.

There will be a 90 Day evaluation period to ensure satisfactory performance.

Must stay on the job one year.
