ASIA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

We are seeking to hire a School Nurse with experience in an international and national school for commencement August 2024. Reporting to: Designated Safeguarding Lead

Purpose of Role

School Nurse is responsible for providing health, illness and injury assessment, intervention, and documentation within the nursing scope of practice to students, and staff within the school.

Key Responsibilities

Provide care for injured and ill students and staff using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care.

Provide emergency care and facilitate transfer to outside medical facilities as appropriate.

Liaise with line manager and school principals concerning health and safety of students, and report as appropriate.

Administer medications and treatments as per policies and as ordered by health care providers and/or as advised by parents.

Maintain first aid kits on campus, and for sports programs, including approved field trips.

Maintain accurate and confidential logs of student visits and treatment and communicate pertinent information directly to the line manager and/or school principals or school leadership as appropriate

Be responsible for updating student information in Engage and update 360 in a timely manner.

Assist with student admission and withdrawal health forms, filing and computer entry for student health records, if any.

Stock and inventory expendable supplies and maintain capital equipment for the infirmary.

Maintain strict security and confidentiality on all matters concerning student, employee, and family health issues.

Always maintain a valid Malaysian Board of Nursing registration/license.

Continually seek self-improvement through professional development in the field of nursing.

Liaises with relevant health authority such as PKD, MOH, etc pertaining to health issue and health programme.

Coordinate health programme for students and staff.

Carry out any other duties as assigned by the line manager and/or school leadership taking into account that student health and safety comes first.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS

Fully and positively participate in the school’s performance appraisal scheme in order to develop and enhance personal and service performance

Undertake any other reasonable duties requested/assigned as required by SLT or Line Manager, especially with regard to the school’s administrative function

Ensure that school policies including those relating to Safeguarding, Race Equality, Equal Opportunities, Code of Conduct and Health & Safety are adhered to.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Possess a degree in nursing or its equivalent;

Minimum three (3) years’ full-time nursing experience either in a clinic, hospital and/or any other approved health care providers;

Possess a valid nursing registration with the National Nursing Board of Malaysia;

Computer literate with good interpersonal communication skills;

Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
