Job Duties

Western State Hospital is recruiting for a RN-II Shift Supervisor (Formerly RNCB) to provide quality nursing care and a safe therapeutic environment for a specific patient population, utilizing knowledge base and experience through the nursing process.

RN-II Shift Supervisor will coordinate services on assigned shifts and communicate clinical and administrative issue to nursing administration. A RN-II Shift Supervisor will evaluate, supervise and document performance of staff.

Position available on multiple units and shifts.

2 Spruce 3rd shifts

Minimum Qualifications

- Must be an RN-II.

- RN-I having less than a year experience (waived to 6 months with RNC approval).

- Must successfully complete BLS, TOVA and other required training upon employment at Western State Hospital.

- Must successfully complete and maintain competencies.

Presents effective interpersonal communication skills, team focused care and a professional appearance /approach.

- Presents the ability to assess plan, implement and evaluate care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical disorders, cultural needs of the psychiatric patient.

- Presents good clinical knowledge and resource to staff.

- Experience or ability to delegate, supervise, evaluate and problem solve.

- Registered nursing licensure or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

- Current, Virginia license to practice as a Registered Nurse or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement is accepted.

Additional Considerations

- Applicant certified in Psychiatric Nursing are desired.

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution or higher education preferred.
