Empower Semiconductor has an immediate career opportunity for an experienced Power Applications Engineer to join our customer focused technical support team. We are a team of highly experienced power experts located in San Jose, CA seeking to add additional talent with an equivalent passion for power technology. In this role you will be working directly with the inventors of IP and the team of talented, tenured engineers.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and leadership developing design and simulation tools, demonstration platforms and custom solutions for a wide range of applications. The candidate will partner with field application engineering, and/or the customer directly, to ease product evaluation and integration. This key customer-facing role will afford you the opportunity to significantly influence new product development by resolving customer concerns and then testing and implementing design improvements.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

BS/MSEE degree with 12-15 years of power experience in semiconductor field

Detailed understanding DC-DC converter topologies, and various control methods.

Knowledge on high power (>200Amp) system design and analysis

Experience with circuit schematic and PCB layout.

Detailed knowledge of software tools needed for successful power electronics system design (LTSpice, Altium Designer, Cadence/Orcad, Simplis/Simetrix)

Expertise with DC/DC conversion and testing methodologies.

Hands-on knowledge and experience using testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, various probes, frequency response analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and DMMs; Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.

Familiarity with PCB design and optimization (schematic and layout).

Experience using simulation and design tools including Spice, Simplis and SI/PI tools.

Knowledge of PDN, power integrity analysis, and programming languages and tools for automated testing and prototyping (such as python and Arduino) a plus.
