Expected Salary Range: $82,108.00 - $102,635.00 - $128,294.00

In our recently completed fiscal year, BCLC generated a record $1.6 billion in net income to the Province of B.C. to support First Nations, local host governments, health care, education and community programs across the province.

Job Summary:

The Product Owner of Marketing Technology drives the success of marketing technology initiatives by utilizing strong business analysis, project management, stakeholder relationship, and development support skills. This role involves gathering and analyzing requirements, conducting market research, and developing user stories. The Product Owner manages project plans, timelines, and capacity, while mitigating risks to ensure timely delivery. They build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, facilitating communication, managing expectations, and incorporating feedback. Additionally, the Product Owner supports the development team by prioritizing the product backlog, leading sprint planning, addressing questions, and promoting continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities:

The Product Owner of Marketing Technology works closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize business and technical requirements, and works closely with the development team to translate them into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria. They conduct market and competitor analysis to inform product decisions and strategies, and analyze data from various sources to identify trends and areas for improvement.

The Product Owner creates and manages project plans, timelines, and capacity, ensuring successful delivery of marketing technology initiatives. By identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies, they minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables. Coordinating with cross-functional teams, they allocate resources effectively and track project progress using key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Marketing, Operations, Business Technology, and leadership, is crucial. The Product Owner facilitates regular communication and collaboration, manages stakeholder expectations by providing updates and addressing concerns, and gathers and incorporates feedback to continuously improve marketing technology solutions.

The Product Owner maintains and prioritizes the product backlog, ensuring the development team has a clear and prioritized list of tasks and user stories. They lead sprint planning and review meetings, address questions, remove obstacles, and make decisions that support timely delivery. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, they encourage the development team to implement process improvements and best practices.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSPO) is preferred.

Business Analysis: Minimum of 3 years of experience in gathering, analyzing, and prioritizing business and technical requirements. Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into clear and actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in creating clear and concise documentation and presentations.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and provide innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities effectively. Demonstrated flexibility in responding to changing business needs and requirements.

Technical Requirements

Marketing Technology Expertise: Deep understanding of marketing technology platforms, tools, and solutions, including CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, content management systems (CMS), and analytics tools.

Agile Methodologies: Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, with hands-on experience in leading Agile teams and practices.

Project Management Tools: Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Trello, Asana, or similar software to manage tasks, sprints, and backlogs effectively.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Strong skills in data analysis and reporting, with experience using tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Tableau, or similar platforms to track and measure marketing performance.

Technical Documentation: Ability to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, project plans, and process flows.

UX/UI Principles: Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles to ensure marketing technology solutions are user-friendly and meet the needs of end-users.

Database Management: Basic knowledge of database management systems and SQL for querying and managing data within marketing technology platforms.

Security Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements related to data privacy and protection within marketing technology solutions.

Integration Knowledge: Basic Knowledge of APIs and integration technologies to connect various marketing tools and systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
