Purpose of Role

The IT Business Analyst leads the analysis and documentation of Aurecon IT projects, so that our portfolios deliver the highest quality initiatives to Aurecon. Has 3 to 5 years of project experience as a business analyst on technology focussed projects and has worked autonomously to produce high-quality deliverables that meet the needs of project stakeholders. The IT Business Analyst is equally comfortable working with business stakeholders to capture requirements, project managers to coordinate tasks and team members, and technical teams to ensure that requirements are delivered. The IT Business Analyst will also be required to act as a Scrum Master to support delivery.

The successful candidate will bring their confidence and work ethic to ensure the successful implementation of IT initiatives at Aurecon.

Key Responsibilities of the IT Business Analyst at Aurecon:

• Capture and document requirements, scope, and business processes for IT projects.

• Conduct workshops and interviews with subject matter experts and stakeholders from across the business.

• Work with project and portfolio managers to ensure appropriate project resourcing, task assignments and project reporting.

• Deliver key artefacts as required by the project, including user stories, business requirements documentation, traceability matrices, as-is and to-be process documentation, and wireframes.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Act as Scrum Master as and when required.

• Assist portfolio and project managers in identifying, reporting, and resolving risks and issues throughout project lifecycles.

• Collaborate with solution architects, security analysts and change analysts to produce material to support the successful delivery of IT projects.

Essential skills and experience

Business Analysis Skills:

• Business situation analysis: can produce diagrams and flowchart representations of real-world business situations and functions.

• Requirements definition and management: define, validate and manage requirements through the delivery life-cycle.

• Feasibility assessment: define, evaluate and describe business change options to meet the defined requirements.

• Data modelling and design: can develop models and diagrams to represent and communicate data requirements.

Application/Product Experience:

• Competency using Microsoft Excel to produce and maintain reports, lists and visualisations.

• Competency using Microsoft Visio to create and maintain process documentation.

• Knowledge and experience with Atlassian Confluence and JIRA

Business Analysis Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of experience as an IT business analyst in PRINCE2/Agile/Scrum projects - eliciting requirements, creating documentation, managing requirements from definition through to the testing process, etc.

• Experience working across multiple regions and with program managers, project managers, business stakeholders, application or product owners, and external vendors.

• Experience conducting workshops and interviews.

Essential Soft-Skills:

• Time Management: Uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.

• Industry qualifications in business analysis and/or IT are highly regarded.

Key Relationships:

Delivery Owners/Project Managers, Portfolio Program Managers, IT Project Delivery Manager, Solution designers and architects, business stakeholders, offshore technical teams, vendor teams, business analyst peers.
