Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Software Engineer - Boca Raton, FL.

This position reports to the Executive Director of I-SENSE, Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering, and works closely with the I-SENSE Engineering Team. The position supports software engineering activities within I-SENSE.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Serves a leadership role in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software systems. Strong cross-stack software development experience is required.

Serves a leadership role in managing large software projects involving multiple developers. Strong software engineering management experience is required, including familiarity with standard software management tools (e.g., Git, Trello) and notations (e.g., software architecture / protocol modeling notations).

Upper-tier system development, including back-end data management systems, application servers, and user-facing systems is a focal point for this role.

Serves a leadership role in the management and administration of cloud infrastructure and associated tools (AWS).

Conducts directed studies, including technology surveys and data analysis.

Supports proposal and report development.

Supports special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution in computer engineering or similar area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer engineering or similar area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience required.

Salary:$90,000 - $110,000 per year.

Work Days and Hours:Monday - Friday, 8a.m. - 5 p.m. Some evenings may be necessary. Hours may be adjusted with supervisor approval.
