Summary
The Voluntary Internship Program is an unpaid internship program. Working under the direction of NARA staff, interns will be exposed to a broad spectrum of work and opportunities across various offices, records centers, libraries, and museums. Fall internships will begin in September 2024 and will last for 12 weeks. Participants must complete a 100-hour minimum requirement.

Duties
Voluntary Interns' duties will depend on the NARA office or site to which they are assigned. NARA seeks students in various to complete internships at our . Internships will last roughly 12 weeks, averaging between 10 to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 100 hours. Fall interns are expected to work on-site at least 70 percent of the time. Interns will collaborate with their supervisors to determine their work schedules.

Current high school, undergraduate, and graduate students OR former students who graduated within the past three years.
Must be U.S. Citizens.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Qualifications

Additional information
All Voluntary Internship Program positions are unpaid, although we can assist with the necessary paperwork if you identify outside funding or can receive credit from your academic institution.
Appointment to the internship is subject to favorable evaluation of the appropriate security and suitability investigation.
Depending on the internship location, some interns may be eligible for public transit benefits.
