Qualifications

To qualify for a Criminal Investigator, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Medical Requirements

The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. The incumbent independently plans, organizes, conducts, and manages complex criminal investigations involving persons and property under the charge of the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) pursuant to Federal Statutes and applicable DoD and DCMA Directives.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, USC, Section922 (g) (91). Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, USC, Section 1001).

FIREARMS QUALIFICATION: Must qualify with and carry a firearm. The incumbent is required to bear and maintain proficiency in the use of hand and shoulder-fired firearms, and incapacitating devices and materials.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent is required to attend and successfully complete the Criminal Investigator Training Program through the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, or equivalent and an Inspector General Qualifications Course administered by the OIG DoD, and the OIG DoD Hotline training course.

DRUG TESTING: This position is a TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION. Subject to random drug testing under the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Program established pursuant to Executive Order No. 12564.

MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR'S LICENSE: The incumbent must possess a valid State driver's license at all times and have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle(s) in accordance with applicable OPM regulations and requirements.
