Position Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of client-centered physiotherapy services for patients who are post-operative following orthopaedic surgery, primarily the hip and knee joint replacement populations.

Provides physiotherapy assessment, goal oriented treatment interventions, client/family education and support to address medical and emotional needs.

Performs as a coach/mentor, consultant and uses sound critical thinking skills to achieve client outcomes and facilitate team functions.

Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation.

Supervises support personnel, students and volunteers as appropriate.

Key Qualifications:

Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and in good standing.

Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.

Experience in the management of post-operative care of orthopaedic injuries/conditions, primarily hip and knee replacements, within an acute in-patient setting.

Evidence of continuing education, professional and personal development is required. Completion of specialized orthopaedic courses and/or certification in orthopaedic intervention techniques is an asset.

Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively with a high performance team, as well as families and community partners.

Sound knowledge of community resources is an asset.

Demonstrates effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

A second language is considered an asset.
