Description

River Run manages the shared services organization supporting both Newburyport Bank and Pentucket Bank. While both Banks maintain their independent, mutual community bank status, working in tandem under River Run provides scale to the organization. Working together under River Run provides greater opportunities for advanced products and services and operational efficiencies. This will establish River Run as a dominant, sustainable, independent, and full service mutual community banking partnership in the Northeastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire markets.

The Vice-President of Accounting provides strategic direction to the Company on all aspects of Regulatory Reporting, Income Tax Calculations and Filings, Audited Financial Statements and Holding Company accounting and reporting. This individual reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate financial regulatory reporting for multiple banks and holding companies with state and federal regulatory bodies.

Oversees and coordinates entity wide federal and state income tax calculations and filings.

Accounting for service level agreements between the Holding Company and its bank subsidiaries, including tracking expenses and allocating costs.

Coordinate and prepare consolidated annual financial statements, in conjunction with external audit firm.

Provide regulatory and accounting guidance/support to other team members in Finance and across the organization.

Implementing and managing the automated consolidation tool for multi-bank holding companies

Designing and generating management reports, as required

Coordinating quarterly and semi-annual regulatory reporting to the Federal Reserve Bank

General Finance Responsibilities

Manage accounting and reporting functions for the Company’s primary products, including:

Manage and coordinate with other Accounting team members on various accounting responsibilities for multiple banks, service corporation and holding companies

Develop and maintain accounting systems and processes while maintaining financial controls across a multi-bank organization

Coordinate the external audit and income tax function for the Company. Work closely with internal audit counterparts to manage all Finance/Accounting audits performed throughout the year

Assist in managing and developing internal controls consistent with the expectations established for the Company

Other Responsibilities

Manage and/or support other accounting and financial reporting processes as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related degree, in addition to a minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in the financial services industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to use data driven enhancements and efficiencies in departmental operations and to diagnose problems accordingly. Ability to use data to drive enhancements and efficiencies in departmental operations.

Knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting requirements.

Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook and ability to learn alternative specific software as required. Includes the ability to produce and manipulate data within Excel for analysis and reporting purposes.

Strong analytical and time management skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Detail orientation and ability to work successfully with deadlines and time constraints.

Professional demeanor and professional maturity required for working closely with customers, employees, and vendors.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
