We are currently seeking a dedicated Library Media Specialist to join a public school in Jersey City, NJ, and contribute to the educational growth of students.

Position Overview: As a Library Media Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting literacy, research skills, and a love for reading among elementary and middle school students. This part-time position, with roughly 25 hours per week, offers flexibility while allowing you to make a significant impact on students' academic journeys.

Type: Part-Time (Roughly 25 hours per week, elementary and middle school students)

This position is for the upcoming school year.

Qualifications:

State certification as a Library Technician

NJ State Teaching License

Possession of (or willingness to obtain) up-to-date clearances

Proof of individual professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities May Include:

Manage and maintain the school library, including cataloging, organizing, and updating materials.

Assist students in finding and selecting books, research materials, and digital resources.

Teach information literacy skills, including effective search strategies and critical evaluation of sources.

Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.

Plan and host library programs and events to engage students in reading and learning.

Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in library and media services.

Foster a safe and welcoming library environment for all students.
