Position Description:

Join our dynamic team at Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering as a Graphic Designer! Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives, you will play a crucial role in authentically showcasing the Rowan Engineering brand through compelling materials. Collaborating closely with the Assistant Dean, you'll integrate innovation and contemporary aesthetics to produce visually captivating print and digital content for various communication and marketing initiatives.

As an integral member of our small yet agile team, you'll not only serve as the primary brand storyteller for the college but also contribute to the design of materials for undergraduate and graduate student recruitment initiatives. Additionally, you'll support the Assistant Dean in creating designs and production for marketing materials aimed at recruiting research faculty.

This role is pivotal in elevating our overall visual presence and ensuring a compelling narrative that resonates effectively with our target audience. It demands considerable design and production skill, as well as experience collaborating with project teams, including vendors. Ideally, candidates will have at least two years of professional experience in a higher education environment. High technical competence and experience working on large publications, including executive-level projects, are preferred. Additionally, expertise in designing visually captivating illustrations or schematics to enhance large grant proposals for faculty members is highly desirable.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Conceptualize, design and implement print, digital design and large publication projects for Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, particularly for undergraduate & graduate recruitment, alumni and our philanthropic efforts, and recruitment and retention of faculty initiatives.

Develop promotional materials for college events and activities, both for internal and external audiences.

Design visually captivating illustrations or schematics to enhance large grant proposals for faculty members.

Most important: be a team-player who regularly contributes to a culture that is curious, supportive, open-minded and enjoys what they do!

Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience in design encompassing both print and digital mediums, preferably within a higher education institution or an in-house creative setting.

Experience utilizing social media platforms.

Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, knowledge of Premiere and After Effects a plus, video production skills also a plus.

Exhibits expertise in typography layout, hierarchy, and branding. The designer is adept at establishing and adhering to design principles while also recognizing the strategic moments to deviate from them.

Fully understands the pre-press process.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage projects with diplomacy.

Proficient in receiving and implementing creative direction, with a strong aptitude for collaboration and efficient teamwork.

Demonstrates an eagerness to thrive in a dynamic work environment, showcasing the capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Demonstrates exceptional flexibility and a proactive willingness to undertake additional tasks as required.

Must be a self-starter and very detailed-oriented.
