Per Diem Pharmacy Technician

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, performs non-clinical operations of the pharmacy department that fall under the duties of a pharmacy technician in accordance with state, federal and hospital policies

Provides excellent service to patients and hospital staff

Ensures adherence to standard operation procedures and compliance with state law, federal law, and regulatory agencies (including but not limited to URAC, ACHC, JACHO) including procedures for billing, storing and dispensing prescription, maintaining records, documentation/compliance, audits, and licensure

Ensures the pharmacy remains in compliance with all handling requirements for specialty drugs, including LDDs

Performs duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Lead Pharmacist, and Lead Technician including utilizing pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, compounding prescriptions, and maintain workflow

Immediately reports quality events to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to hospital policies and procedures in relation to Quality Improvement Programs

Registers all sales through the point-of-sale terminal, processes all tender as required

Interacts with cross-functional teams in the hospital and escalates all clinics concerns to a pharmacist as needed

Performs inventory management activities, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceuticals

Brings ordering discretions to the immediate attention of management

Works with management to maintain good relationships with internal and external partners, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers

Maintains pharmacy department by ensuring it is stocked with adequate supplies and that appearance is clean, neat and organized

Packs and ships medications in accordance with department procedures

Provides excellent customer services by answering questions and assisting patients and other professionals

Assists with department and enterprise projects and initiatives

Performs other special projects and duties as assigned

Preferred Criteria:

Hospital pharmacy experience

Required Criteria:

High School Diploma or GED

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

New York State Pharmacy Technician License

Ability to perform mathematical calculations, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Minimum of one year of Pharmacy experience
