Reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent develops and delivers the Mechatronics – Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines (MENG 3025) course in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology (Mechatronics) program. Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering the Mechatronics – Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines (MENG 3025) course

o Students learn the basic concepts and tools used to analyze the dynamics of machines. Particle kinematics (rectilinear and curvilinear), Newton's laws, work and energy, impulse and momentum, power and efficiency, and mechanical vibrations are explored. Students use hand calculations, computer simulation, and experiments in designing and analyzing machines to solve problems in this course.

• Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives

• Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs

• Evaluating student learning progress / academic achievement

• Participating in program and college activities as required

• Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required

• Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment

Qualifications:

• Successfully completed a bachelor’s degree program in the field of mechanical or electrical engineering; post graduate degrees are assets.

• Minimum five years of experience in computer, mechanical or electrical engineering including computer systems, robotics, control systems, and electronics.

• Experience with the design and analysis of machines and automated systems;

• Experience working with and maintaining various types of mechanical and electrical systems and associated equipment;

• Computer literacy in MS Office Suite;

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills;

• Commitment to life-long learning;

• Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students;

• Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies;

• Teaching and Training Adults certification is an asset;

• Current membership or affiliation with relevant professional associations (i.e., Ontario Association of Architects) is an asset.

Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
