The Financial Reporting Manager will direct the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on United States (US) statutory, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and/or Bermuda statutory accounting bases. Direct the preparation of the detailed IFRS consolidations, analysis and reporting for the corporate holding company. Direct high-level and detailed analysis of financial statements and subcomponents. Consider and refine as needed internal controls associated with existing financial reporting policies and procedures and associated with new initiatives.

Responsibilities

Direct research and analysis of financial operations and review these findings under the applicable basis of accounting.

Direct the preparation of and review the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analysis under the following bases of accounting: US statutory, IFRS, and/or Bermuda statutory.

Direct research and preparation of financial statement impact analysis and/or position papers supporting accounting policy with respect to LGA initiatives. Examples include new product lines or initiatives coming out of Product Implementation Committee, accounting for investing in new investment vehicles, analyzing impact of new reinsurance agreements, and new L&G segment reporting. Includes development of key metrics and analytical tools supporting pricing, solvency, profitability, and other management objectives, which, in turn, may include managing technological aspects of implementation (i.e. general ledger, data warehouse modifications).

Direct implementation or monitor maintenance of robust internal control practices and procedures for all facets of Financial Reporting.

Direct the preparation of position papers for new or newly relevant US statutory, IFRS, and/or Bermuda statutory accounting standards. Direct implementation of changes in policies and procedures as a result of findings, as necessary.

Direct the preparation of and review the quarterly and annual statutory filings in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Direct the preparation of and review L&G required monthly and/or ad hoc reporting

Direct, review, and/or prepare US, Solvency II/IFRS and Bermuda statutory capital forecasting requirements reports.

Hire, train, conduct performance reviews and semi-annual evaluations for direct staff.

Complete special tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Train, review, and otherwise direct preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement exhibits and analysis on US statutory and IFRS consolidated bases of accounting.

Direct response or respond to internal and external audit and actuarial consultant requests on LGA and operating entity financial statements and internal controls.

Direct year-end state filing process.

Develop in concert with Director, Financial Reporting & Accounting Policy and other Manager(s) of Financial Reporting and Manager(s) of Investment Reporting appropriate Financial Reporting staff training and motivational programs.

Coordinate employee benefit plan audits, financial statement preparation, and form 5500 filings. Respond to audit and outside actuarial consultant requests.

Qualifications

Education

BS in Accounting or equivalent four year college degree

CPA

Experience/Knowledge

5-8 years cumulative relevant accounting experience

Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, & Statutory Accounting Principles

Public accounting experience preferred

Financial statement preparation or audit background preferred

Insurance industry accounting experience preferred

What’s in it for you? The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $104,000 - $143,450 annually. There will be a locality pay differential for the Stamford, CT office.

Candidates within a commutable distance to Stamford, CT or Frederick, MD will receive preference. The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses. This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date. This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
