Position Summary:
As a Central Sterile Technician, you will play a vital role in providing general surgical prep functions, including decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, sterilizing, and distributing instruments and packs used to support the physician and surgical team in the operating and procedure rooms. You are responsible for receiving and unpacking supplies for proper storage, while maintaining appropriate par levels with rotation sterile management principles.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Decontaminate, prepare, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays
Operate washer/sterilizer, autoclave, and Steris machines
Maintain instruments and supplies, including proper logging and tracking of damaged instruments, while managing appropriate par levels
Follow all regulatory guidelines of the Ambulatory Surgery Center
Perform scheduled tests of autoclaves and gas sterilizers; maintain logs
Perform weekly eyewash equipment testing; maintain logs
Monitor operating suites for accurate temperature and humidity; maintain logs
Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed
Assist in preparing the operating room for the next procedure, ensuring a safe and efficient turnover
Assist with hooking the patient up to the monitoring devices. (EKG/Pulse Ox ETC.)
Monitor the comfort of the patient and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient
Assist the anesthesia provider
Assist with positioning the patient, using the appropriate equipment and anatomical principles to avoid patient injury
Apply the electrosurgical grounding pad
Close out the room, re-stock and fill the rooms with enough surgical packs for the following days procedures
Train and function as an Instrument tech as needed
Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Current BLS certification or obtain within 6 months of employment
Sterile Processing certification
One or more years of related work experience in operating room
Current CPR certification
Strong communication skills and ability to work well is a high-stress environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an ambulatory setting

Salary Range:
$24.00- $27.00/hour to commensurate with experience
