Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Outpatient Substance Abuse Facility

Location: Escondido, CA

Position Overview:

We are seeking two dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team at an outpatient substance abuse facility in Escondido, California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, overseeing patient detox, and offering therapeutic support to patients in their recovery journey. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis:

Conduct detailed psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions and substance use disorders.

Utilize evidence-based tools and techniques to gather comprehensive patient histories.

Treatment Planning and Management:

Develop individualized treatment plans that address both psychiatric and substance use issues.

Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring safe and effective use.

Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Therapeutic Interventions:

Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support patients in their recovery process.

Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.

Collaboration and Consultation:

Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care.

Participate in case conferences and treatment team meetings to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.

Patient Education and Advocacy:

Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and treatment options.

Advocate for patients' needs and support them in navigating healthcare systems and accessing necessary resources.

Documentation and Compliance:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry.

Licensure: Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of California.

Certification: Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse treatment setting.

Skills: Proficiency in psychiatric assessment, psychopharmacology, and various therapeutic interventions. Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

Knowledge: Familiarity with state regulations and best practices related to substance abuse treatment and mental health care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Experience in outpatient settings and working with diverse populations.

Advanced training or certification in addiction medicine or substance use treatment.
