Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED and no felony convictions. Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation and take a pre-employment drug screen. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Knowledge of standard security practices and procedures.

Ability to patrol assigned areas; perform foot patrols.

Required to walk for long periods of time as well as up and down stairs.

May require sitting or standing at a stationary assignment for long periods of time.

Flexible schedule; The Police Department is 24 hours / 7 days a week operation.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

The Georgia State University Police Department provides law enforcement, security and safety services to the university community and the immediate surrounding areas, ensuring a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and neighbors.

Georgia State boasts one of the largest university police forces in the state with 160 officers across all six Atlanta metro campuses.

The department is accredited and certified by the following organizations; Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement (IACLEA) and the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

This position requires great flexibility since it operates on a 24/7 basis.

Performs security duties for the protection of GSU property, personal property and personal protection.

Duties are performed under general supervision by Police Department Supervisors and requires work during morning, day and evening hours; weekends and holidays.

Multiple campuses have openings currently.
