Urology Austin clinical laboratory is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with an ASCP certification or equivalent. Under general supervision and following established laboratory procedures, laboratory professionals perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.

Current ASCP certification or equivalent in good standing.

Minimum of 2 years Hematology and Chemistry experience in a hospital or clinic setting required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Handling, processing, transportation and storage of specimens.

Performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.

Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety and infection control procedures.

Accurately reports test results.

Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.

Maintains current knowledge of reagent stability and storage.

Proper handling of reagents and associated safety protocols.

Maintains a clean work environment.

Adheres to all laboratory SOPs.

Maintains effective communication skills and working relationships with other lab personnel, other departments, and external customers.

The work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 11:30 AM-8:00 PM

Safety: Some risk of exposure to chemicals, biological substances, sharps and/or scientific instruments capable of causing bodily injury if used improperly. We comply with OSHA standards regarding Bloodborne pathogens, Safety Needle Act, Chemical Hygiene Plan in addition to maintaining robust safety & training programs.

Physical Demands: This position will require extensive use of a computer (mousing, keyboarding) and may involve extended periods of sitting and/or standing, and moderate use of stairs.
