Principal DevOps and Database Engineer

Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Design and develop high-performing, scalable, and fault tolerant infrastructure.

Design and build CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Ansible and Gitlab.

Work closely with Product and Engineering to ensure the reliability and health of the supported infrastructure and applications.

Ability to create automation for any repetitive tasks.

Expand the capacity and performance of current operational systems.

Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.

Identify and build Database automation frameworks/scripts.

Provide support for production deployments and maintenance.

Demonstrate ability to deliver results on time with high quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Have at least 5 - 7+ years of experience building and supporting highly available infrastructure on any of the public cloud platforms like OCI, AWS, Azure or GCP.

Experience with Cloud Network Architectures (Virtual Networks) and Security.

Experience building infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible.

Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab or similar tools.

Experience with Python and Shell scripting.

Experience building and maintaining Database ETL Pipelines.

Experience building monitoring dashboards using any of the standard tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus and Grafana.

Experience working with RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, etc.

Experience with Linux systems management.

Experience in a 24 7 high-availability production environment.

Experience with Docker.

Have over 5 years of experience designing and managing Oracle databases with a strong understanding of database concepts, troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis.

Excellent knowledge of database concepts, coding and debugging PL/SQL (functions, triggers, procedures, packages).

Experience with Oracle 12c or higher in working with various database objects.

Expert in Database optimization and performance tuning.

Advanced experience in Data modeling, relational database design and hands on database development.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Good understanding of Agile software development principles including using common tools such as JIRA.

Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related field experience.

Bonus Points:

Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Experience with container related technologies like Kubernetes.
