The Structures Company is seeking a Thermal-Mechanical Engineer focused on research and development. The successful candidate will be able to devise experiments and analyze results, develop 3D models using SolidWorks, work on a project from conceptualization to completion, and write technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Interact with customers and project leads to fully understand product requirements and develop cost effective and innovative solutions.
Design and develop components based on product and customer requirements.
Create solid models, parts, assembly, and inspection drawings, as well as product travelers.
Design products that fit our manufacturing capabilities
Ensure compliance with company standards.
Material procurement as required; place purchase orders, manufacturing work orders, and work with vendors to manage delivery schedules.
Develop laboratory test plans to ensure compliance with customer’s key product characteristics.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Prior experience creating 3D models and drawings with SolidWorks or other CAD software.
Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Authorized to process ITAR compliant data (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident required)
Desirable Skills
5 years of research experience
Experience designing and running thermofluids experiments in a laboratory environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing operations (CNC milling, turning, TIG welding, Laser Welding)
Experience with programming in Python, MATLAB, or other language
Experience with data acquisition and test automation in a laboratory environment including LabView.
