The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a division of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. The ReStore mission is to generate revenue through the sale of donated building materials and household items to support HFHGC's operating budget. Through its efforts, the ReStore facilitates recycling, minimizes landfill waste, provides low-cost home improvement items, and increases Habitat's visibility in our community.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of the ReStore Associate is to assist the Store Manager in making sure that all aspects of the ReStore's daily operation are fulfilled in a timely and excellent manner. This includes making sure our donors, customers, and volunteers receive the highest quality experience possible when interacting with Habitat for Humanity. ReStore Associates are the face of Habitat for Humanity to the ReStore's local community and the staff that they lead, and are expected to exemplify Habitat's core values at all times. Please note: this position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Provide excellent customer service at all times.

Operate the POS in an efficient and accurate manner.

Assist customers in locating merchandise throughout the store.

Make sure donors are serviced in a timely and professional manner.

Ensure tracking of donation count is performed

Evaluate condition/price of incoming merchandise (including furniture, cabinets, and lawn equipment) to ensure it is sellable and consistent with ReStore product acceptance standards

Place cleaned & priced product onto the sales floor in a timely manner in order to facilitate an enjoyable and easy shopping experience

Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all areas of the ReStore.

Assist Warehouse Team Lead in clearing dock on a daily basis

Promote the mission, vision and values of HFHGC

Work closely with ReStore Manager to determine individual projects that may be necessary for store improvements (these can include activities such as building new display equipment)

Learn about HFHGC and the ReStore, and be able to communicate our mission and purpose to volunteers and customers.

Potentially operate Forklift, pallet jack, and other basic material moving equipment

Help build customers' understanding of how the ReStore helps to support the mission of Habitat.

All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

High School diploma or GED

POS and cash handling experience is a plus

Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A strong belief in the organization's mission, goals and accomplishments

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both internally and externally

Excellent customer service etiquette and attitude

Energized in an atmosphere that fosters sharing new ideas and initiatives

Ability to have grace and humor under pressure

Ability to independently prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential.

Ability to work along-side volunteers and keep them engaged with those tasks.

GUIDELINES: Employee will be guided by Habitat's mission principles and HFHGC'S strategic plan and departmental goals.

COMPLEXITY: Responsibilities involve a variety of interrelated tasks. Procedures vary based upon management requirements. The ReStore Team Member will need to be able to work with different staff members, volunteers and temporary workers within the ReStore organization to fulfill varying roles.

SCOPE AND EFFECT: Errors in work performance may result in delays in recovery of costs or even loss of revenue and may cause serious operational disruptions.

CONTACTS: Individual has frequent contact with other HFHGC staff, clients, stakeholders, vendors, donors, Greenville County community service work program, customers, external private/public entities, and government agencies for the exchange of information and to solve problems and discover opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates primarily in a retail/warehouse environment and can require operating equipment such as a forklift, power tools, hand tools, ladders, price guns, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Occasionally works in outside conditions that can include heat, humidity, and high noise levels.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent communication skills with a strong passion for the organization's mission;

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team and with great energy and persistence. Experience working with diverse public;

Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and produce high quality results quickly and on time;

Critical thinking, problem solving, accuracy and attention to detail;

Available to work Tuesdays - Saturdays
