SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists the Senior Accountant in the analysis of manufacturing plant variances to standard costs and budgets, including: operational spending reporting, material price/quantity, labor, efficiency/rate, and burden variances.

Provides support to the Senior Accountant for key cost accounting functions, including inventory valuation, excess and obsolescence reserve calculations, monthly inventory reconciliation, cycle counting, and coordination of annual physical observations with external audit team. Comfortable spending time on the shop floor to execute these functions.

Coordination with the supply chain team and monitoring of PPV.

Assists in the analysis to address cost related topics to include items such as scrap and obsolescence.

Provides support to the Senior Accountant in rolling standard costs for parts needing to be updated on an as needed basis.

Support the annual standard cost roll process.

Assist with interactions with external audit team on cost accounting topics.

Assist with the Coordination with the internal audit team on cost accounting internal control items.

Provides support for the Senior Accountant including analysis on standard cost of product, margins, and inventory.

Participate in cross-functional teams supporting New Product Development, including time studies or observations on new jobs alongside and Engineer.

Assist with Preparation of all necessary month-end journal entries to inventory and cost of sales.

Assists in month end close process by providing analysis of results as guided by the Senior Accountant and Division Controller

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance from accredited university;

4+ years of hands-on cost accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment;

Accounting understanding of basic accounting concepts US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Familiarity with SAP strongly preferred, or other ERP system

High proficiency skills in Excel, Word, and data extraction/manipulation, including skills such as pivot tables, vlookups, etc.

Sound judgment and keen insight;

Strong problem recognition and solving skills (demonstrates initiative in effecting positive change);

Self-motivated, assertive, positive attitude;

Responds timely to information requests; and

Effective written and oral communication skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
