This Grain Merchandiser position will work extensively with producers in procuring grain, setting up marketing programs, and executing logistics to help achieve financial goals. You must be a self-starter, able to work independently, be detail oriented, and be able to build and maintain relationships with customers. Excellent communication skills including verbal and written communication are a must.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Build and maintain long-term relationships with producers, truckers, and end users.
Maintain customer accounts and handle all account related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service.
Be able to understand grain markets, industry reports and be able to analyze any changes in market trends.
Develop knowledge of competitors values and activities.
Understand supply chain management including both truck and rail logistics.
Work closely with the grain merchandising team to ensure effective trading and risk strategies are in place and executed.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate internally with other merchandisers, hedge desk, accounting, and transportation personnel, to exchange information as needed.
Identify new market opportunities and help build the brand to expand the business.
Become familiar with all physical plant operations including safety, grading, and truck and rail procedures.
Assist in planning, developing, and implementing grain merchandising strategies and goals.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

Familiarity with the industry
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Ag Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or related field.
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent math skills

Proven ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrate a positive “Can Do” attitude; strong work ethic, self-starter that requires little supervision and has a high level of initiative
Willing to work additional hours beyond the normal work week during harvest, month-end, and year-end preparation
A valid driver’s license
Must be able to move/lift up to 25 pounds
Specific vision abilities are required such as close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
