Job Title: Software Quality Assurance Engineer (SQAE)

Location: Headquarters in Stoke, with potential working visits to Finland and client sites as required

Fixed Term Contract: 12 Month Contract with possible extension

Job Summary:

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer (SQAE) will join a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop Software Assurance Documentation for various civil and military projects. The role involves building air and surface surveillance radar systems to detect airplanes for Air Traffic Control purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and enforce software quality management plans for safety-critical software applications.

- Utilize existing processes, customer requirements, and industry standards to create new SQA plans and processes.

- Oversee project design, delivery, and testing to ensure adherence to QA processes.

- Verify that system requirements are clear, testable, and consistent.

- Document test cases and traceability to requirements, maintaining conformance records and tracking systems.

- Develop standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness.

- Manage problem/defect reports and corrective action plans.

- Identify and isolate software performance and compliance issues.

- Research and implement new tools, technologies, and conformance testing processes.

- Provide guidance to program management on risk management.

Required Skills and Experience:

- Knowledge of Linux-based systems and databases.

- Professional certification such as Six Sigma, Quality Engineer, or Quality Auditor.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant Engineering discipline.

- 5+ years of experience with a strong understanding of SQA processes and methods.

- Experience in software safety and integrity assurance standards (e.g., DO-278A, ED-153, ED-109).

- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, configuration management, and development tools.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, QT.

- Experience with test scripting tools, analysis and modeling software, and scanning tools.

- Familiarity with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and a proven track record within the aviation industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

- Demonstrated ability to develop software assurance documentation for complex systems.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
