This role is eligible for a $500 signing bonus!

New-to-Mastery Support Staff can expect to receive an hourly rate of between $21.50 and $23.00 based on years' of experience and level of education.

Position Summary: Mastery Charter Schools is seeking part-time elementary (K-6) onsite substitute teachers for our urban school turn-around efforts.

This position will require instructors to work 4-5 days a week up to 29 hours.

Because you will be on site, you will be part of a one team effort to help our young scholars succeed.

Substitute teachers will be responsible for implementing Mastery’s curriculum and utilizing classroom routines and procedures with consistency.

During extended absences substitute teachers will also be responsible for developing lesson plans, homework assignments and assessments.

Substitute Teachers will collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.

Substitute teachers will be expected to form and maintain relationships with students’ families, including phone calls and conferences, and will be invited to participate in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.

Mastery is looking for instructors committed to teamwork and high expectations for all students.

The ideal candidate will have classroom teaching experience, preferably within an urban school setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Teacher certification- completed or in process

Must be able to work collaboratively in a high-stakes environment

Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students and maintain an orderly classroom environment

Demonstrated expertise in the subject of instruction

A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement

A belief that all students should be held to high academic standards

The ability to communicate effectively with parents

Demonstrated professionalism, responsibility, and a strong work ethic

A positive attitude and a drive for personal excellence

The ability to problem-solve

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as: traveling to network campuses; maneuvering in office spaces (including standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away); stooping, kneeling, reaching file cabinets/shelves; fine finger and hand manipulation in use of computer, chalkboard, dry erase, &/or projectors; filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; sitting for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and typing.
