Job Summary

The Graduate Program Administrator provides comprehensive administrative support to Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) students, faculty, and Graduate Program Chair. Key responsibilities include maintaining and updating graduate student files, reviewing and administering graduate program policies and procedures, coordinating the graduate application process, managing student admissions, and serving as a liaison between students, faculty, and other department partners.

This role requires managing multiple priorities and projects with creativity, flexibility, self-motivation, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership abilities, experience working with confidential information, and the capability to work independently and as part of a team. They must also be dedicated to student success and exhibit the ability to think creatively, analytically, and strategically.

The Graduate Program Administrator will provide direct support to SLHS faculty and graduate students across the Master, AuD, and PhD programs, serving as the primary contact for approximately 150 graduate students. Responsibilities also include assisting with the development and implementation of department policies and procedures, and continually assessing and recommending improvements to the graduate program.

Required

High school diploma/GED.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative support role.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.

Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.

Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs.

Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes.

Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions.

Drafting, proofreading and editing skills.

Preferred:

Working knowledge of graduate school database systems, MyPurdue, SLATE, Banner, and Cognos.
