Under the direction of the Construction Lead, the Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of building construction, repair, remodeling, carpentry, and maintenance duties. This position is Covered as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for performing work orders for repairs.

Completes remodeling projects.

Responsible for framing walls, installing door frames, installing drop ceiling, dry walling, mudding, staining, and painting.

Performs door lock repairs and replacements.

Performs tile installations and repairs.

Assists County employees in moving and/or transporting furniture.

Assists in Allen County Community Development Corp. (ACCDC) board ups.

Performs asbestos removal and encapsulation.

Performs a variety of weather-related activities, including salting and snow removal.

Assists with general maintenance duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED and more than a year of construction experience

Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Asbestos License preferred

Knowledge of building construction and constructions codes and the ability to read blueprints

Ability to price and purchase construction materials

Ability to use various power tools, hand tools, Asbestos abatement equipment and other job-related equipment

Must be able to pass Federal background check in order to gain access to secured buildings

HOURS:

Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and as needed; overtime and participation in rotational on-call duties required.
