Summary
Client is looking for a skilled/certified Welder to cut and join metal at our SPIRALWELD pipe manufacturing factory in Channelview. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A welder must be competent in using standard welding equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.
Responsibilities
Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as SMAW, GMAW, and Carbon arc gouging.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
Repair pipe and other products by welding pieces and filling gaps
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws by visually.
Must be able to repair the flaws on pipe -found by quality control - after production in the Pipe Repair Station
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking distortion, or expansion of the material.
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Other duties as assigned
Responsible all the activities in the Pipe Repair Station
Clean inside the pipe before welding, cut the area of the weld by using carbon arc and prepare the proper equipment for welding.
Knowledge of how to do oxy-fuel welding and cutting when fixing the pipe ends
Maintain work area and keep equipment clean and orderly
Provide pipe repair reports with complete and accurate based on company quality control department
Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
Qualifications
Professional Certification (e.g., an AWS welding certificate) required
Proven experience as welder in industry.
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
Working permit is required
Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
Education
Trade school a plus
Work Experience
Work experience is required and must be proved with documentation
