WHO WE ARE
A progressive At-Large Montgomery County Councilmember seeks an individual to serve as Scheduler and Case Aide.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational abilities to track and schedule meeting requests, experience organizing successful events, and a passion for helping residents in Montgomery County. Responsibilities include helping residents with housing, transportation, and other casework needs, following-up with county agencies and scheduling meetings for an active elected official. Other duties may include helping the Chief of Staff organize community pedestrian safety walks and coordination with state partners and other local county leaders.
What You'll Be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include scheduling and maintaining the Councilmember’s calendar.
researching and responding to inquiries from constituents as one of the lead caseworkers.
facilitating scheduling replies in a timely manner; and representing the Councilmember at public events.
This position requires the ability to exercise sound judgment, courtesy, confidentiality and discretion in responding to phone calls and visitors in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office, including some evenings and weekends.
This is a term position. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon renewal of term.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in legislative/policy research and professional-level experience, preferably on issues about Transportation, Environment, Public Health, Education, Budget, Nonprofits, Public Safety, Zoning, Housing, Recreation, or Planning.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be submitted.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences
All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated "Qualified," placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview.
The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:
Experience prioritizing schedule requests and managing an office calendar.
Experience in setting priorities and organizing work assignments within deadlines;
Demonstrated experience with direct public contact in a busy setting dealing with diverse communities and the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with people, both orally and in writing.
Experience in working effectively with constituents, community groups, and elected and appointed officials.
Experiencing in providing excellent and strong writing skills.
