The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

What You'll Do:

The Early Childhood Health Manager will manage and oversee the planning, development, and implementation of Early Childhood Health Programming including Parenting at Mealtime and Playtime (PMP), Ohio Healthy Programs (OHP), Farm to ECE, and Health & Safety professional development. This position will coordinate with other ODH early childhood programs within the Bureau and across the agency (e.g., oral health, school nursing, vision and hearing screening, asthma, immunization). Additional duties may include\:

Partner and collaborate with state and local agencies to develop plans for improving communication, offering professional development, and coordination of programs that impact the health of young children.

Provide technical assistance, guidance, and coordination with sub grantees, contractors, and other federally funded Ohio programs (e.g., REACH and HOP recipients).

Directly supervise assigned staff (e.g., monitors work products, delegates assignments based on staff expertise, and career growth opportunities, interviews and selects applicants, approves/disapproves leave requests, evaluates work performance based on applicable professional standards of practice).

Organize and convene meetings of internal ODH early childhood health programs to strengthen coordination of program efforts.

Prepare regular reports and submit weekly program updates.

Assist the Section Administrator in identifying and developing grant applications and proposals for General Revenue Fund (GRF) funded projects.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8\:00am to 5\:00pm (Flexible Schedule). This is an exempt hourly position, with a pay range of 13 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule.

Position Qualifications

3 yrs. exp. in health program delivery (e.g., program implementation, program coordination, program monitoring & evaluation, budget development, grant writing/review, providing technical assistance) with experience to be commensurate with approved position description on file.

OR

Completion of graduate core program in field of public health, health administration, preventive medicine, social work, nursing or other health-related field, or public policy & management/public administration or business administration with education to be commensurate with approved position description on file.

OR

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
