We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Columbus, Ohio.

Learn more about us in this video: and visit our website: Job Snapshot: The team undertakes a wide range of projects with a particular focus on the completion of stream restoration, flood studies, the evaluation and design of dams, landfills, reservoirs, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control.

Development of conceptual designs, engineering analysis of design alternatives, drawing/detail preparation, construction cost estimating, specification preparation, construction site inspections, proposal and report preparation, schedule and budget management, and communication with internal and external clients Manage projects and oversee the preparation of project documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports within SME's quality program Quality assurance and quality control of projects, mentoring junior staff, project planning and management, assessing project risks, reviewing project elements for completeness and accuracy, and determining design methodologies Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering A minimum of four years of experience in Water Resources / Civil Engineering Experience with stream restoration planning, design, and construction A Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year of hire Technical proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics modeling (HEC-RAS, GeoHEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM, etc.) Experience with 2D and 3D hydraulic modeling Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D or MicroStation to prepare design drawings Proven ability to execute technical aspects of a wide range of projects; Experience leading teams with varying responsibilities and tasks Excellent business and technical writing skills Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree; PhD considered Experience with preparing documentation for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's National Flood Insurance Program Specific experience with dams, including inflow studies, spillway design, and dam-break modeling Geographic Information System experience Why work at SME?
