Summer 2025 Program Dates: Approximately June 2025 – August 2025

JOB SUMMARY: Intern will assist with management, oversight, and scheduling of patent program on the Engineering & Safety team. Intern will assist with filings related to patent activities, patent research, and document review. Intern will learn patent disclosure and application processing and tracking strategy, acquire at least basic understanding of patent rules and system and develop intellectual property research skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides interface with outside patent attorneys for patent issues.

Conducts prior art searches and coordinate search results for in-house and outside consultants.

Collects and assemble prior artwork and written documentation for patent attorneys.

Coordinates correspondence to and from US Patent Office with outside patent attorneys.

Participates in Patent Award program.

Assists with training of Universal employees regarding patents; and perform other duties as assigned.

Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:

In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.

Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.

Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.

An official transcript may be required upon request.

Preferred majors include: Law, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering.

Preferred coursework completed: Basic Electricity, Strengths and Materials, Fluid Dynamics, Applied Mechanics, Structures, Light, Audio, Microprocessor Design.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:

Exceptional research skills required.

Familiarity with patent processes required.

Familiarity with at least one of mechanical, electrical, audio, video, lighting and/or architectural systems preferred.

Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Superior written & verbal communication skills.

Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.

Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.

Consistent attendance.

Please note the following:

This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.

Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than August 2025.

Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
