Our dynamic and experienced teams of Buyers are among the key driving influences of our company, and their responsibilities propel our business.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you, as a Fresh Produce Buyer, will be a strategic contact for our suppliers and customers.

Your responsibilities will be managing your produce commodities to meet customers' produce needs and the overall margins, as well as liaising with all FDP departments to ensure exemplary service.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Prepare an annual buying budget and updated forecasts for their selected basket of produce items for the Prairie market, including seeking strategic Buying and Sales opportunities Effectively process claims on a timely basis to ensure the company receives the highest margin from their basket of produce items Negotiate price and claims concessions to ensure their basket of produce commodities are competitive in the marketplace and provide optimal margins for the company Provide strategic assistance for cross selling and/or cross purchasing produce items Assist Accounting in credit control for their suppliers and also seeking credit approval along with credit monitoring for their customers Provide bi-weekly progress report to the Branch Manager every alternate Wednesday Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time YOUR QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: College or University graduate (preferably Business or Economics), or equivalent hands-on experience and knowledge Experience in buying or selling fresh produce items A minimum of 3 years' solid hands-on produce industry experience Excellent negotiation skills Open-minded, flexible, and able to adapt and succeed in a multi-cultural work environment Motivation for sales and growth; and determination to meet goals WHAT WE OFFER: We offer in-house job training and a competitive compensation package with a base salary, bonus program, group health benefits, and great development opportunities!
