What You'll Do

Position will be responsible for auditing participant requests for enrollments/changes, updating to systems applications, and submitting eligibility information to vendor. Extracts, interprets and summarizes financial data, determines journal entries for posting, and calculates total payment due to vendors. Handles benefit plans for Y-12 and Pantex active and retired populations, as well as Long Term Disabilities for all aforementioned. Requires demonstrated knowledge of welfare plan processes, good customer service skills, and the capability to complete the financial processes necessary to initiate the welfare plan transaction. Records and analyzes financial data performing accounting activities. Balances transactions and prepares necessary data for submission to other accounting, operating, and management personnel for their use.

Major Responsibilities:

Works with the responsible Benefit Plans personnel in researching and resolving eligibility problems/concerns. Ensures that legal requirements are fulfilled.

Advises and/or trains others on accounting practices and procedures. Initiates and implements new system and procedural changes involving others in the work area. May recommend and implement minor system and procedural changes.

Contacts insurance carriers and troubleshoots eligibility issues using data evaluation and audit functions as required.

Provides appropriate guidance and support to our internal customers to complete welfare plans transactions or solve issues by investigating specific or special problems to determine cause and final solution.

Reviews and revises eligibility information to welfare plans systems applications, summarizes contract information, and determines benefit plan costs through proper accounting methods.

Minimum Job Requirements

High school diploma: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

Associate degree: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Job Requirements

Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures gained through a two-year accounting program and 3-4 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.

Possess good professional oral and written communication skills, mathematical accuracy, and a general range of office experience.

A working knowledge of benefit plans policies and systems applications, such as SAP, is highly desirable.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
