The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.

Analyzes sensitive problematic situations considering the need for immediate action and potential ramifications of alternative solutions. Makes specific recommendations to the supervisor orally or in writing.

Participates in special studies, research projects, or assignments that relate to various aspects of the Service's administrative programs and operations. Assignments require confidentiality and application of expertise and mature judgment. Develops and analyzes data/information and recommends actions to be taken. The results of the studies often provide a basis for procedural or policy determinations.

Reviews and summarizes information from a variety of sources for the use of the supervisor, exercising sound judgment and knowledge of the purpose of such information. Keeps the supervisor advised of developments and progress concerning problems. Follows-up with the responsible official to expedite necessary action and final settlement of issues.

Establishes and/or adapts administrative procedures and practices to be used in situations requiring deviation from standard administrative procedures. Serves as a liaison between manager, subordinate managers/employees, and other IRS managers/executives at all levels. Contacts the responsible official to ensure final settlement of issues and advises the supervisor of status.

Personally reviews all important incoming and outgoing correspondence; coordinating routing, and the control of such correspondence; associates pertinent file material or pending material, when appropriate; and prepares summary notes and suggestions concerning the subject matter involved before referral to the supervisor or his/her staff. When necessary, determines which function should have responsibility for disposition and which function(s) should be informed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

SPECIALIZED EXPRIENCE:GS-12 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience acquiring, validating, and analyzing information, drawing conclusions, forecasting work, and developing alternatives; Experience with operating programs and the interrelationships among them to perform program analysis; Experience dealing with top level executives and taxpayers to establish and maintain effective relationships and gain confidence and cooperation; Experience with written and oral communications sufficient to prepare and present findings and recommendations, carry out specific action regarding controversial issues, and develop material for use in public speaking engagements.

Tour of Duty: Day Shift - Start and stop times between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Alternative work schedule, staggered work hours or telework may be available.
