SUMMARY:

A well-known Houston company is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to join their team in an onsite role. In this role you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. This includes overseeing servers, networks, virtualization platforms, and backup solutions, while troubleshooting technical issues and collaborating with teams to support business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, network, and security. Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement solutions to minimize impact on operations

Deploy and maintain servers, network devices, and storage systems as well as necessary software applications.

Manage virtualized environments including VMware, Nutanix, and Azure, ensuring scalability and performance. This includes provisioning, managing resource allocation, and optimizing performance.

Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to protect data and ensure business continuity. Configure backup solutions such as Rubrik and Azure Backup, conduct regular backups, and test recovery procedures to minimize downtime in case of system failures or disasters.

Use tools to monitor system performance, availability and security to resolve technical issues. Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency and reliability.

Oversee patch updates for Windows and Linux environments.

Maintain system configurations and share knowledge with team members.

Participate in system-related projects and work with cross-functional teams and provide updates to leadership.

Manage devices and deploy applications across platforms (SCCM, Intune, JAMF and other United Endpoint Platforms) while handling updates and troubleshooting of applications. Requirements:

Bachelorâ s degree preferred; High School Diploma required.

5+ years of enterprise system administration experience.

Relevant certifications (e.g. Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, MCSA, VCA) preferred.

Proficiency in

networking (TCPIP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, Firewalls, Network Security Protocols such as SSL/TLS and IPSec),

Windows Server and Linux operating systems

virtualization technologies (VMWare and Nutanix) including optimization, capacity planning and performance tuning

backup solutions such as Rubrik and cloud-based services (Azure Backup). And ability to design and maintain backup and recovery strategies.

Monitoring tools for performance, availability and security (SCCM, Whatâ s Up Gold, Azure Monitor)

scripting (PowerShell, Python).

Experience in deploying and managing endpoints across different platforms such as SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Intune Endpoint Configuration Manager, and JAMF.

Experience in packaging and deploying applications using UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) platforms.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
